Yavneh Girls has been transformed to 'outer space' in honour of Rosh Chodesh Adar Shaini. Our outstanding Year 12 with help from some of the Year 13 girls spent all afternoon decorating the School straight after the Shabbaton their dedication is unsurpassed.
We are delighted to share the latest newsletter from Yavneh Girls, edited by Aviva Shalom Y10.
We have a fabulously popular club every Thursday called Nish Nosh Parsh in memory of Maya Dee who used her break time to have some Nosh and a thought on the 'Parsh'. Year 6 were able to cash in and join NNP before they left.
Martin Hyman addressed the girls and spoke about his Mother's (Ilse Beres) miraculous escape from Nazi Europe on the Kinder transport to England aged just 13.
Yavneh Girls celebrated Tu Bishvat by creating a 3D Al Hamichya card with the use of clay, paint and varnish. They were then divided into groups to research the Birkat Mai'ain Shalosh and find out what we are asking for in this Bracha and over which foods it is said. Any girl who learns Al Hamichya by heart will be rewarded with a voucher for some pizza and an ice coffee in 3 bakers.
We were very excited that the primary school taster day coincided with Tu Bishvat so that Year 6 could take part in the creative activity. YG had a competition during the month of Kislev. 'A little bit of light dispels much darkness'.
Each girl was asked to perform acts of kindness for their family and at School (represented by a candle). Girls who had a minimum of 5 candles were rewarded. Yavneh girls are selling raffle tickets to raise money for Israeli soldiers and displaced families. Fabulous prizes to be won.
Treats for Rosh Chodesh Teves treats of Bingo, Bag Making, hot chocolate and - of course - Mrs Hoffner's chocolate cake. |
