Chodesh Tov! The new month of Cheshvan has begun! As a way of celebrating the start of this month, we enjoyed hot chocolate and doughnuts during morning break. Furthermore, in order to introduce the theme of this month, “Where can I find Hashem?” during lunch, Mrs Wolf kindly brought us in chocolates! In order to harness the theme of this month, there was a surprise little piece of paper within each wrapper asking us the same question – where can we find Hashem today?! Every day, Hashem sets the scene and provides the props – we are simply actors on the stage – we cannot choose the events of our day, but only how we ‘colour’ it; will we make it dull and grey, or bright and vibrant? Sometimes the scene Hashem sets for us appears to be challenging, difficult or painful, but it really is up to us as to what we choose our perspective to be on the situation. When we understand that Hashem personally prepares each step of our day (הַמֵּכִין מִצְעֲדֵי גָֽבֶר), it reminds us that it is up to us to discover Hashem’s presence within our mundane lives. The project of this month is to try and spot the little winks that Hashem sends us – whether it be that the rain stopped while you walked to school, or you managed to score well in a test. These little things can just change our whole perspective and really do add that colour into our lives. Especially during these difficult times, it’s important to keep in mind that these little miracles are reminders from Hashem that He is with us, and that because He cares deeply for Am Yisrael, He will constantly remain at our side.
