"Ascending the ladder one step at a time" was the theme for the pre-Shavuot programme for Yavneh girls.
After a pizza and chips lunch the girls were inspired by the very powerful messages of all our speakers. It was really special to have 2 of our alumnae who are involved in education in Israel and south Africa address the girls. Alexis levy who is the assistant director of a seminary in Israel said that Yavneh made her the person she is today. Jenny Disler nee Bishop spoke of everyone's personal connection to Torah. Jenny arranged a special program with yeshiva college of Johannesburg during lockdown. Daniella Rothman-Fritch spoke of her journey from professional dancer to educator and how she took small steps in her journey back to her Jewish roots. Shiffy Silverstone was so candid in her approach to life's challenges, it's always a pleasure to listen to her. A special treat was seeing our Yavneh Sem girls who are currently at Midreshet Tehilla. They described how Sem has impacted on their lives and outlook. The highlight was the fabulous flower arrangements that the girls artistically created under the guidance of Mrs Adina Strom. We are sure that they will adorn the Shabbat and Shavuot tables.
